Our Trustees

Asli Hassan

Asli Hassan Kinzi, our Chair, is a teacher who has decades of experience supporting the Somali community and local mosques and is one of the founding members of Jannaty.

Asma Rezki

Asmaa Rezki, our Treasurer is a qualified accountant who works as the Finance & HR Manager at the Muslim Charities Forum.

Ilham Salimane

Ilham Salimane is the Manager of SOAS University’s Language Centre, a children books author with Oxford University Press and Managing Director of a London Arabic Kids' Club.

Jinan Elkatme

Jinan Elkatme is the Head of Social Sciences at Stepney All Saints School. Our Safeguarding Lead who has experience of delivering Safeguarding Training to teachers and community leaders in Tower Hamlets.

Our Staff

Majida Sayam MBE

Majida Sayam is the founder and Director of Jannaty. Majida has been supporting vulnerable women in North London since 1983 before establishing Jannaty in 2010. Majida received recognition for her services to the community receiving the Uthman Dadoo Award at the Muslim News Awards, the Prime Minister's Points of Light Award and now has been made an M.B.E in the Kings New Year's Honours List for services to ethnic minority women.

Salma Begum

Salma Begum is Jannaty's Operations Coordinator who has been working in the charity sector for 20 years in operations and executive support roles. Salma is training as a Person Centred Counsellor specialising in Islamic Counselling.

Firdaus Ismail

Firdaus is the friendly face greeting customers in our charity shop. Firdaus can speak in many languages including Arabic, Amharic, Italian, Omoro, Somali and Tigrinya! 

Volunteers

We are ever grateful to our volunteers without whom we could not deliver our services to empower women in the community. Jannaty has dozens of volunteers speaking a range of languages with many different skills. Bringing their passion to help others, sharing their lived experience and wisdom, the most valuable asset we have in our charity is its people.

About Us

Jannaty Women's Social Society was established in 2010 with a vision to empower women and girls from disadvantaged BAME backgrounds so that they can improve their quality of life and those around them, resulting in stronger and developed communities. We do this through courses, workshops, training, counselling and coaching amongst other activities.
